I was looking over the weather models for next week and it looks like we could be getting some autumn weather our way. A deep trough digging into the eastern US will bring down some cold dry air over our forecast area. The WRF/NAM model runs are plotting surface temps in the upper 60's for Sunday at 18z. At the same time however, a ridge of high pressure will continue to build over the western US. Some areas are expected to receive temps in the 100's! It will be nice to get a break from the heat and humidity for a while. Sadly, there aren't any chase days coming up *sigh*.
500mb chart for Sunday (18z). You can see the deep trough over the eastern US and the high pressure ridge dominating the western US.
Surface temperatures for 18z Sunday. Wichita Falls is forecast to have temperatures around 66ยบ F.
